During World War II, many toy companies ceased toy production and diverted their production efforts toward production of war time necessities. This time was especially difficult for children as their parents were away at the war or working in production. In the 1950s, World War II was over and the world was just about recovered from it. Toy production was back up and running creating those toys that children craved and longed for. This truck is one of the fine examples of toys from that time. Structo Toys had just about exhausted their supply of the green and yellow paint they typically used and began using brighter colors, such as the red on this truck. They were also still using pressed steel, which may be one of the reasons this truck is still in good condition for its age. The passenger side headlight and the plastic fireball engine are missing and there are scratches on the paint. It is great for displaying in your collection.
